From the Desk of your brother, Omar Sherrer
New Cairo, Egypt
When I first decided to move overseas over 22+ years ago, I had no idea what I was getting into…
I was unhappy with my life in the U.S.
I feared for my wife’s safety.
I struggled to practice Islam with so few Muslims and all the Haram around me.
Even praying five times a day at work was a constant battle.
But when it was time for me to leave, there were no YouTube channels, podcasts, or websites to guide me.
The internet was slow.
So I relied on the advice of a few brothers from my local masjid in Milwaukee, Wisconsin… and booked a one-way ticket to Egypt.
My family and I arrived wide-eyed and completely green.
We didn’t have anyone local to show us the ropes.
We hired a random apartment agent to help us find a place and ended up staying in a roach-infested building in a rough neighborhood.
I took the place, thinking it was the best Egypt had to offer.
I was dead wrong.
I was also clueless about the political situation.
Which is why I was so shocked to hear the police completely left the streets during the 2011 revolution.
Over the next few years, I was jailed three times — all because of my ignorance of the visa process.
In short, my life was chaotic.
Eventually, I left Egypt to explore other countries, hoping to find more stability.
But this time, I was determined not to make the same mistakes.
I started reaching out to other expats — brothers who had already figured it out.
As I moved through places like Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Turkiye… I built connections with many Muslim expats.
Many had been living abroad longer than I had.
Many were in much more stable situations than me.
Some had secured long-term visas through enrolling in Universities.
Some had purchased property and gotten a passport.
Some married locals or launched businesses to get residency.
Some had simply mastered the art of talking their way into jobs in Arab countries.
One of these brothers owned a well-established business – and helped me sponsor my entire family on a 2-year renewable employment visa while we were in Malaysia.
That’s when everything began to click.
I realized that starting a new life in a Muslim country didn’t have to be a gamble.
It didn’t have to be chaos.
It just required the right information.
But that was when things took an unexpected turn…
Covid hit. That business in Malaysia went under, and I was forced to relocate.
But this time, I was determined to do things differently.
With what I’d learned, I secured a 5-year renewable visa.
Found a comfortable apartment in an upscale apartment complex.
And built multiple businesses that gave me and my family the freedom and stability we needed.
Now?
My children practice Islam openly and confidently.
I live in a place that’s aligned with my values.
And I finally feel completely at home in the Muslim world.
All this by the will and mercy of Allah, Ta'ala.
Looking back, I realized how much easier my journey could’ve been if I’d had access to the knowledge I have now.
With the right information you can save time, money, stress — and avoid a lot of painful lessons, in sha Allah.
So I started to think of how I could bridge this information gap for others.
I wanted to give other Muslims looking to make Hijrah the benefit of everything I’ve learned along my 20+ year journey… In the shortest amount of time possible.
That’s when I decided to take everything I learned over two decades of living abroad, and distill it into a practical, step-by-step guide.
And that is how this book was born…
Here’s everything you’ll learn inside of this book:
How to know exactly when you’re ready to make Hijrah (use this simple checklist) How to choose the ideal Muslim country for you and your family What documents you NEED to have in order before leaving How to prepare for visa interviews and get long-term residency How to budget for Hijrah expenses — and avoid costly mistakes How to find short-term and long-term housing abroad that you’ll love The 4 emotional stages of culture shock — and how to get through each one How to craft an educational plan for your kids in a foreign country The uncommon strategy for finding jobs and negotiating better salaries in Muslim countries My personal system for finding the most trustworthy local service providers How to help your spouse and kids feel grounded in their new environment — and beat homesickness before it starts How to pack and ship your belongings with minimal stress And the exact things to do during your first few weeks in your new country
Well, my answer to that question might surprise you…
But it’s because I’ve made every possible mistake for you.
22 years ago, I made Hijrah the hard way.
I bumped my head in every possible way.
But you don’t have to, in sha Allah.
All you have to do is read this book and put your trust in Allah.
And let it give you my entire 20+ years of learning in just a few hours, in sha Allah.
In just a few seconds, you can have access to all the tips I’ve used
to stay and raise my family in the Muslim World for the past 22 years.
You’ll learn the tools I used to…
Sustain myself financially
Develop strong expat communities
Move around the world with a family of 10+
And get residency in over 4 Muslim countries!
And I’m gonna give it all to you for just:
